Shreya has been pursuing dance under the able tutelage of Guru Smt. Lakshmi Kannan since 2016. She started her dance journey with tremendous interest in learning Kathak and gave various performances under the guidance of her Guru. She also received the title of ‘Nrutya Shaaswati’ after performing her Kathak Arangetram in June 2019, after which she was greatly encouraged by her Guru to learn Bharatanatyam. Due to her dedication and practice, Shreya performed her Bharatanatyam Salangai Pooja (in February 2021) and Bharatanatyam Arangetram (in October 2021), receiving the title of ‘Nrutya Shree’ after just 1 year of meticulous training in Bhartanatyam under her Gurus, Smt. Lakshmi Kannan and Vidwan Dr. Shri PR Ventakasubramanian. It was due to her sincere efforts, diligence and consistency that she was able to achieve these challenging milestones in record time. She was the first student at Jathiswaraalaya, who pursued Kathak as her first art form following it with her milestones in Bharatanatyam.
Right from her school life, Shreya has been consistently meritorious. In addition to her excellent academic performance, she has won many prizes for literature events, seminars, projects, best-speaker and best-performer awards. She completed her B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from SRM Institute of Science and Technology. She also completed her Masters in Bharatanatyam and Senior diploma in Kathak Nrutya. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Computer Science and Engineering at Silicon Valley, California.
Her performances in Kathak and Bharatanatyam include her participation in the Annual Day Celebrations of Jathiswaraalaya, Bhavan’s dance festival 2018, 2019 and 2021 at Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram, Theppotsavam and Marghazhi Utsav 2019 at Sri Aadikesava Perumal temple, ‘Dasyam Anantholsavam festival’ at Sri Anantha Padmanabhaswamy temple, Hanuman Jayanti Celebrations 2019 of Shri Anjaneya Bhaktha Jana Sabha, Navaratri festivals at Malleeshwarar temple, Women’s day Celebrations 2021 at Poompavai Kalai Mandram and Nava Varsha Nrutya Vaibhavam program by Jathiswaraalaya. She received the title of ‘Natana Kala Shri’ after her performance in Karur Natyanjali’s Natiya Brahmotsavam in December 2021.
